easternblot.net is the science blog I have maintained since 2005. In its current rendition it also includes archives of Expression Patterns, a blog hosted by Nature Publishing Group from 2007 to 2012.
Rather than “science explainers”, easternblot.net focuses on science in culture, and science as a culture of its own. I write here about science museums, about what it’s like to be a scientist, about the overlap between musicians and scientists, science art, science books, and much more.
Having been a long-time science blogger has directly led to being published in anthologies and being invited to speak at conferences. Indirectly, my blogs have also played an important role in getting me my first freelance writing assignments, and several community management jobs. Were it not for my blog, this entire portfolio would look very different.
